Snowdonia
Beyond Bala is the border of Snowdonia which breaks through the landscape like the back of a giant slate dragon, its misty breath hovering in the valleys of this magical place. The Snowdonia National Park is home to Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales, The Electric Mountain at Denorwig and the most stunning views.
Snowdonia is geography with attitude but follow the trails through the mountains and you will discover beautiful little towns such as Betws-y-Coed which is an oasis of enchantment with welcoming little pubs, shops and tea rooms.

Portmerion
This sculpted village is a work of art in itself and a jaw-dropping surprise to first-time visitors (and second and third visits for me!). It was once used as the setting of ‘The Village’ in the sixties TV thriller The Prisoner and residents don’t mind if you spend your whole time running about refusing to be called Number Six.
If you want to stay a little longer there are two fantastic hotels with great restaurants as well as the village houses where you can stay.

Chester
This historic medieval walled city has the most amazing shops and restaurants in the North. You could dine out every night for a month and not go to the same place twice. The boutique shops housed in The Rows (shops above shops) would almost have you believe that you had stepped back in time, were it not for the latest designer fashions on display.
